The high-altitude village of Chitkul in Kinnaur district was blanketed in a fresh layer of snow on Wednesday following overnight snowfall, marking the season’s first significant spell in the region.

Light snowfall was also reported in several parts of Lahaul and Spiti, while upper areas of Kinnaur, including Sangla and Kalpa, along with Manali in Kullu district and Naina Devi in Bilaspur, experienced intermittent rainfall.

According to the Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department, light rain and snowfall are likely to continue over higher reaches on Wednesday, while dry weather is expected to prevail across the state from November 6 onward.

The fresh spell of rain and snow has led to a noticeable drop in temperatures across most parts of the state.

On Wednesday, the minimum temperatures recorded were: Shimla – 8.4°C, Dharamshala – 13.8°C, Manali – 6.9°C, Kalpa – 2.8°C, Solan – 11°C, Kangra – 13.6°C, Mandi – 13.3°C, Narkanda – 5.4°C, Keylong – -0.4°C, and Kukumseri – -1.8°C.

The state’s hill stations have begun to take on a winter charm, with locals and early tourists capturing the season’s first snowfall in pictures and videos shared widely on social media.
