Himachal: Panchayat Technical Assistant Caught Red-Handed Taking ₹1,000 Bribe

The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mandi, has arrested a Technical Assistant of Gram Panchayat Kasan, identified as Sanjay Sharma, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1,000. The accused was reportedly demanding money from a Block Development Committee (BDC) member in exchange for preparing grant-related estimates.
According to the complaint filed by Narayan Singh, BDC member from Sai Kasan, the Technical Assistant had demanded ₹1,000 to prepare estimates for development projects under Gram Panchayat Kasan in Mandi’s Sadar block. Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Sanjay Sharma red-handed while accepting the bribe. The tainted money was recovered on the spot.
The complainant further revealed that the accused had also taken ₹500 from him four days earlier. Sanjay Sharma has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station, Mandi.
