Fresh Snowfall and Rain Likely in Himachal; Yellow Alert Issued for November 4
Light snowfall is expected in the higher reaches of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, as well as parts of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, and Chamba districts.
Fresh snowfall is likely in Himachal Pradesh’s higher mountain regions on November 4 and 5, while the rest of the state may experience light rain as a new western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region. The State Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Una districts on November 4, warning of thunderstorms and lightning in some areas over the next 24 hours.
According to the department, light snowfall is likely in the higher altitudes of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, and Chamba districts, along with light rainfall across several parts of the state over the next 48 hours. A cold wave is expected to persist for the next three days, with minimum temperatures likely to drop by 4°C to 5°C, and maximum temperatures by 3°C to 6°C. Weather conditions are likely to turn dry again from November 6 onward.
Meanwhile, the state witnessed dry weather over the past 24 hours with bright sunshine in most areas. Minimum temperatures were recorded 2°C to 3°C above normal, ranging between -1°C and 18°C, while maximum temperatures also remained 2°C to 3°C above normal, between 15°C and 31°C.
In the state capital Shimla, the maximum temperature was 19.8°C, while Dharamshala recorded 25°C. Other readings included 19.5°C in Manali, 27.7°C in Mandi, 26.7°C in Kangra, 24.8°C in Nahan, 20.2°C in Kalpa, 27°C each in Bhuntar and Sundernagar, 30.2°C in Hamirpur, 16.9°C in Kufri, 19.5°C in Kasauli, and 24.2°C in Reckong Peo.
The highest maximum temperature in the state was 30.4°C, while the lowest minimum of -1.5°C was recorded in Kukumseri village of Lahaul and Spiti district.
