U.S. Vice President Vance Plans Visit to Kenya Next Month, Source Says
U.S. Vice President JD Vance is planning to visit Kenya next month after attending a summit in South Africa, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.
It is not yet clear what Vance will discuss during his trip to the East African nation, one of Washington’s closest partners on the continent. Kenya has said it hopes to finalize a trade deal with the United States by the end of this year.
The U.S. designated Kenya a major non-NATO ally in 2024, though Nairobi has also faced criticism from U.S. officials over its growing ties with China.
The source said, without providing further details, that the visit is expected to take place from November 24 to 27.
Vance’s office and Kenya’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
U.S. President Donald Trump is sending Vance to represent him at the G20 World Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg on November 22–23. South Africa, which currently holds the rotating G20 presidency, will hand over the role to the United States following the summit.
