Trump Says He Looks Forward to Meeting Japan’s New Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is looking forward to meeting Japan’s newly elected Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, who was a “close ally” of the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

“I look forward to meeting the new Prime Minister. I’ve heard very good things about her,” Trump said.

As part of his upcoming Asia tour, Trump is scheduled to meet both the Emperor of Japan and Prime Minister Takaichi, with discussions expected to focus on trade, investment, and increasing defense spending.
