Manali and Lahaul-Spiti tourism stakeholders optimistic as winter charm returns
Fresh snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district and Manali, bringing a sharp dip in minimum temperatures, officials said on Wednesday.
The early snow has brought cheer to tourism stakeholders in Manali and Lahaul-Spiti, who are hopeful that the winter scenery will draw more visitors in the coming days.
According to the Shimla Meteorological Centre, several parts of the state also received light rainfall — with Manali recording 12 mm, Bharmour 11.5 mm, Keylong 6 mm, Bhuntar 3.6 mm, Siobagh 2.4 mm, Palampur 2 mm, and Kukumseri 1.2 mm.
In the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti, Tabo was the coldest place on Tuesday night, with a minimum temperature of minus 0.7°C, followed by Kukumseri at minus 0.4°C, Keylong at 1.8°C, and Kalpa at 4.9°C.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that the cold conditions will intensify over the coming days, with clear skies likely to follow, offering tourists postcard-perfect views of snow-draped mountains.
