A man from Uttar Pradesh died after being hit by a Haryana Roadways bus in Fagu, about 19 kilometers from Shimla, police said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sarfaraz, a resident of Dabki village in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, the accident occurred earlier in the day while Sarfaraz was waiting for a bus in Fagu. At that time, a Haryana Roadways bus traveling from Theog to Shimla arrived near the stop. Sarfaraz reportedly knocked on the door, asking the driver to let him board, but the driver did not stop. He then ran toward the rear of the bus with his bag.

Unaware of his presence, the driver moved the vehicle forward, and Sarfaraz slipped and fell under the rear wheel, suffering severe injuries to his leg and waist. He was rushed to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police confirmed the report, stating that a case has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.
