China and Iceland to Strengthen Cooperation on Geothermal and Green Energy, Joint Statement Says

China and Iceland will deepen intergovernmental and industry-level cooperation on geothermal and green energy, according to a joint statement released Tuesday by Chinese state media.

The statement, published by China’s national broadcaster CCTV, said both countries will work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote energy transition, and create green jobs and business opportunities.

The announcement followed a meeting in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir.
