Nurpur Police Seize 6 kg of Charas in Major Anti-Narcotics Operation

In a major success against drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police in Kangra district recovered 6.044 kilograms of charas and arrested three drug traffickers during a special late-night operation on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Ashok Ratan said that a police team, acting under an anti-narcotics drive in the Kandhal Meenankbari area, intercepted an Alto car with a temporary registration number. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered the banned substance from the possession of three occupants.

The accused were identified as Anu Kumar, Suresh Kumar, and Ram Lal, all residents of Mandi district. A criminal case under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Nurpur Police Station, and investigations are underway to trace the source and network of the contraband.

This seizure forms part of the Nurpur Police’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking in the region. So far this year, police have registered 74 cases under the NDPS Act and seized 1.530 kilograms of heroin/chitta, 23.154 kilograms of charas, 23.570 kilograms of poppy husk, and 344 cannabis plants.

Additionally, authorities have confiscated movable and immovable assets worth ₹24.68 crore from drug traffickers and recovered ₹1.27 crore in drug money.

A total of 122 individuals, including 112 men and 10 women, have been arrested in drug-related cases this year. Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and bringing all those involved to justice.
