Himachal Pradesh’s industrial hub, Baddi, is set to emerge as a major center for green energy manufacturing, with Jupiter International Limited (JIL) investing ₹468 crore to establish its fourth solar production unit in Lodhimajra.

The upcoming 1-gigawatt (1 GW) solar cell manufacturing facility will employ advanced Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology, capable of achieving over 25% energy efficiency. Commercial production is expected to commence by February 2026.

JIL Managing Director Alok Garodia said the project reaffirms the company’s commitment to India’s renewable energy mission. CEO Dhruv Sharma added that the initiative will position Himachal as a hub of clean energy innovation, while creating significant employment and skill development opportunities.

COO Kasturi Roy Chowdhury emphasized the plant’s adherence to global environmental standards, and Director D.N. Pandey noted that the project will generate around 2,000 jobs, with local youth given priority.
