Bilaspur Accident: Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri Visits Site to Review Rescue Operations; Death Toll Rises to 16
Meets Bereaved Families at Berthin Hospital
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri visited the site of the tragic bus accident in Bhallu village under Jhandutta tehsil late last night, around 1 a.m., to review the ongoing relief and rescue operations.
He interacted with administrative officials, NDRF and police personnel present at the site to assess the situation, and later met affected families to offer his condolences.
At Berthin Hospital, Agnihotri met the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy and expressed his heartfelt sympathy. He assured them that the government stands firmly with them in this difficult time. The Deputy Chief Minister also directed the district administration to expedite relief work and extend all possible assistance to the affected families.
The fatal accident occurred late Monday evening when a private bus traveling on the Marotan–Ghumarwin route was struck by a massive landslide near Bhallu village. Sixteen people have been confirmed dead, while two children were rescued safely.
NDRF teams worked through the night and recovered 15 bodies from the debris, with the body of one child found this morning.
Agnihotri, who had been attending the closing ceremony of the Kullu Dussehra festival as chief guest, left the event midway upon receiving news of the accident and rushed to the site. He coordinated with rescue teams to ensure a swift and effective response.
After reviewing the situation and ongoing relief measures, he departed for Kullu to attend the official closing ceremony of the International Kullu Dussehra Festival.
