Man Killed in Dispute Over Abusive Language in Dharamshala Village

A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed during a heated argument over the use of abusive language while drinking alcohol in Chhateru village, on the outskirts of Dharamshala, on Saturday night, police said.
The victim, Ajay Kumar, a resident of Chhateru village, was found critically injured and taken to the regional hospital in Dharamshala in an unconscious state. He was later referred to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, where he succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred when a group of men were drinking at a local roadside eatery in Chhateru. According to police, the deceased, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, began using offensive language, which angered another villager, Sarvan Kumar (37). When Ajay refused to stop, Sarvan allegedly pushed him, leading to a scuffle. During the altercation, Ajay fell into a roadside drain and sustained severe head and body injuries.
Police have registered a case against Sarvan Kumar under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have arrested him. The dhaba owner, Raj Kumar, has given his statement to the police.
Officials also confirmed that the accused had previously been booked under the NDPS Act in a separate case related to alleged drug trafficking.
