Himachal Pradesh has been allotted two new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), one in Kotkhai (Shimla) and the other in Paonta Sahib (Sirmaur).

Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that the schools were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, based on proposals submitted by the state government.

These two schools are part of the 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas sanctioned across the country.

Thakur added that the schools will provide education under the CBSE curriculum from the pre-primary level upwards, helping thousands of children in these districts access quality education closer to home.

Highlighting the state’s role in recommending and facilitating the institutions, the minister said the initiative reflects Himachal Pradesh’s strong commitment to expanding top-class educational and infrastructure facilities in rural and semi-urban areas.

“These new Kendriya Vidyalayas will reduce the need for children to migrate elsewhere for better schooling, open up new opportunities for academic excellence, and further strengthen the state’s educational and infrastructure network,” Thakur said.
