Munich Police Say No Danger to Public After Major Road Cordon

A heavy police and fire brigade presence was deployed Wednesday morning along Lerchenauer Strasse, a main road in Munich. However, a police spokesperson said there was currently no danger to the public in the city, best known for its Oktoberfest celebrations.

The spokesperson confirmed that the road had been extensively cordoned off due to the large-scale police and fire service operation.

Bild newspaper reported that explosions and gunfire were heard, a body was discovered, and one person had been shot, though the situation remained unclear.
