Russia Launches Major Drone and Missile Assault on Ukraine, Still Underway

Kyiv came under a massive wave of drone and missile attacks early Sunday, in what independent monitors say is the largest strike on the Ukrainian capital and its surrounding region since the full-scale war began.

Drones buzzed over the city through the night as heavy anti-aircraft fire lit up the skies. The assault was still ongoing at 7:20 a.m. local time (04:20 GMT).

Kyiv’s military administration reported that by 04:40 GMT at least six people had been injured.

Some residents rushed into deep underground metro stations to take shelter. Air raid alerts were issued across multiple regions of the country, while neighboring Poland closed airspace near two southeastern cities and scrambled fighter jets in response.
