According to a Wall Street Journal report, the U.S. is planning to mandate a 1:1 ratio between domestically produced and imported semiconductors

The paper reported Friday that the Trump administration intends to require chipmakers to manufacture in the United States the same number of semiconductors that their customers purchase from foreign producers.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said companies that fail to maintain this 1:1 balance over time would face tariffs.
