The 10-day special sailing camp “Shatudri Vandan Sailing Expedition”, organized by the NCC Directorate, Chandigarh, was flagged off on Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar at the Luhnu Ghat helipad in Bilaspur. He extended his best wishes to the cadets for a successful expedition.
A total of 70 cadets—46 boys and 24 girls—from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab are participating in the expedition. The cadets will sail across the Gobind Sagar Lake, with overnight halts scheduled at Bilaspur, Jagatkhana, Raipur, and Nakhrana.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar said such expeditions instill discipline, courage, character-building, cultural exchange, and national unity, while also inspiring youth to serve the nation.
Commanding Officer Sajjan Kumar noted that the objective of the expedition is to build leadership, teamwork, and self-confidence among cadets, while also contributing to the Swachh Bharat Mission by promoting awareness about water conservation and undertaking cleanliness drives around the Gobind Sagar Dam.
On the occasion, Bilaspur RTO Rajesh Kumar Kaushal briefed the cadets on road safety rules and urged them to practice traffic discipline. NCC cadets from Bilaspur Degree College, Hydro Engineering College Bandla, and DAV School Barmana were also present.
