Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who also heads the Virbhadra Singh Foundation, said the ceremony was initially scheduled for June 23, on his father’s birth anniversary, but had to be postponed due to heavy rains and natural calamities in the state.

The event will be attended by AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Congress in-charge for Himachal Pradesh Rajni Patil, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Pradesh Congress Committee president Pratibha Singh, and other dignitaries. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is also expected to be present.

Vikramaditya Singh noted that the Virbhadra Singh Foundation has contributed ₹11 lakh to support the education of children who lost their parents in the recent monsoon disaster.

The installation of Virbhadra Singh’s statue at the Ridge has been an emotional issue for his family and supporters. Last year, after resigning from the state cabinet following the Rajya Sabha elections, Vikramaditya broke down publicly, expressing anguish that the government had not yet allotted land at the Ridge to honor his father, who served six terms as Chief Minister.
