Award-Winning Mentor: Anita Chaudhary’s 25-Year Journey Inspiring Young Scientists

From Rural Roots to State-Level Achievements!
Classroom Champion: The Governor honored Anita Chaudhary, a biology lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Serathana in Kangra district, with the State Teacher Award.

From the tranquil village of Rihala in Kangra to the classrooms of Serathana, Anita Chaudhary’s journey is one of courage, passion, and transformative impact. A dedicated biology lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Serathana, she has been recognized with the State Teacher Award 2025 for her tireless efforts in nurturing rural talent and instilling a love for science.

An alumna of MCM DAV College, Kangra, and Punjab University, Chandigarh, Anita began her teaching career in 2000 at GSSS Rakkar, where she served with distinction for 18 years before moving to Serathana. Over the past 25 years, she has done far more than teach—she has shaped futures.

Her classrooms have opened doors for rural students to opportunities once considered out of reach. Many of her students, coming from modest backgrounds, have successfully cleared NEET and other competitive exams, enrolled in medical colleges, joined the armed forces, or built careers in research and paramedical sciences.

What sets Anita apart is the compassion she brings beyond the blackboard—conducting classes during evenings and holidays, supporting underprivileged students with coaching and study materials, and seamlessly transitioning to online teaching during the pandemic to ensure learning continued uninterrupted.

Dr. Sandeep Awasthi, Principal of GSSS Serathana, said, “She is disciplined and hardworking, and has uplifted the entire school. Thanks to her relentless efforts, our students have reached the state level in the Children’s Science Congress.”

Her teaching philosophy integrates academic knowledge with personality development and awareness of the world around her, shaping not just successful students but confident, responsible citizens. For her students, she is more than a teacher—she is a mentor, guide, and friend. For her community, she stands as a beacon of dedication and service.
