Heavy Rainfall Expected in Himachal Pradesh from September 12 to 14

The state is likely to experience continued heavy rainfall over the coming days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for widespread heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh from September 12 to 14.

According to the department, on September 12, a yellow alert has been issued for parts of Una, Bilaspur, and Kangra districts, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. On September 13, the alert extends to Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts, with similar weather conditions expected. The yellow alert will continue on September 14 for Kangra, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts.

The ongoing rainfall has disrupted normal life across the state. At present, at least 586 roads, including four national highways, remain blocked, while nearly 571 power transformers are affected due to the adverse weather conditions.

According to the State Emergency Operations Center, of the 586 blocked roads, 216 are in Kullu, including stretches of National Highway-3 and National Highway-305. Mandi follows with 150 blocked roads, then Shimla (58), Kangra (42), Sirmaur (28), Una (20), Bilaspur (10), Lahaul and Spiti (7), Kinnaur (3, including National Highway-5), and Hamirpur (3).

Authorities have urged residents and travelers to exercise caution and stay updated with official advisories as the heavy rains continue.
