Employees’ Federation Urges Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to Restore Grade Pay
The government’s recent decision to withdraw the enhanced grade pay has impacted thousands of non-gazetted employees.
The Himachal Pradesh Joint Employees’ Federation has urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to restore the enhanced grade pay for employees who were regularized between January 2020 and January 2022. The government’s move on Saturday to revoke the increased grade pay has affected a large number of employees.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the federation stated that the enhanced grade pay had been provided after employees voluntarily gave up certain financial benefits. The federation further noted that withdrawing this provision would create inequality and adversely affect morale, as employees are facing a reduction in their legitimate base salary despite no fault of their own.
The letter reads, “We request the Chief Minister to restore the benefit of the enhanced grade pay to those employees who, as of the date of the revised salary notification, had not completed two years of regular service, and to ensure that eligible employees are granted the financial benefits due to them.”
