Chevron (CVX.N) plans to make “significant investments” in refining and petrochemicals in South Korea, a company executive said on Monday at the Asia-Pacific Petroleum Conference.

Brant Fish, Chevron’s President of International Downstream, stated, “There will be countries like Korea where we will invest heavily in petrochemicals and heavy oil upgrading. In contrast, in refineries such as those in Singapore, we’ve chosen not to make large investments and have actually achieved better returns through much of the capital expansion cycle.”
