Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Himachal Pradesh on September 9 to assess the damage caused by recent floods, landslides, and heavy rainfall. During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to review the situation and hold a high-level meeting in Dharamshala to discuss relief efforts.
Thakur was today meeting residents affected by floods in his home constituency of Seraj in Mandi district.
He stated, “We hope the Centre will extend adequate financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh.” He further added that the people of the state are closely following the developments and have faith in the Prime Minister’s compassionate approach.
Thakur, who will also attend the meeting in Dharamshala, said he will personally brief Prime Minister Modi on the ground realities in the disaster-hit areas.
Meanwhile, targeting the state government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Thakur accused it of running a “deprivation-driven administration.” He alleged that instead of supporting the people, the government is systematically depriving them of their rights, including dearness allowance, medical reimbursements, regularization benefits, and now the higher grade pay.
