Schools and Colleges in Himachal Pradesh to Remain Closed Till September 7
Amid continuous rainfall and warnings of more in the coming days, the Himachal Pradesh government has ordered all government and private schools and colleges, including District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET), to remain closed until September 7 as a precautionary measure.
The decision, announced through an order issued by Secretary (Education) Rakesh Kanwar, comes against the backdrop of widespread landslides, uprooted trees, road blockages, power outages, disrupted water supply, and extensive damage to public infrastructure across the state.
Kanwar emphasized that the safety of students and staff is the government’s top priority. Teachers and administrative staff have also been exempted from physically attending institutions during this period. However, schools and colleges have been advised to continue academic activities through online classes wherever possible.
