Woman Dies as House Collapses in Solan Village; Family Narrowly Escapes
Solan: A woman lost her life when her house collapsed in Samaloh village of the Doon assembly constituency on Monday night, following three consecutive days of heavy rainfall.
The victim, identified as Hemlata, was trapped under the debris. Her husband Heem Ram, their four children—one son and three daughters—and his 85-year-old differently-abled mother managed to escape unhurt.
A police team rushed to the spot and, along with village panchayat head Baldev Singh, assessed the situation. Naib Tehsildar of Krishangarh, Surat Singh, provided an immediate relief of ₹20,000 to the family and arranged temporary safe housing for them.
Meanwhile, widespread disruption continues in the district. Nearly 50 roads remain blocked, including 14 each in Arki and Solan subdivisions, 12 in Kasauli, and 10 in Nalagarh. Power supply also remains crippled as 382 electricity distribution transformers are yet to be restored. Arki is the worst affected, with 170 transformers damaged.
