A sudden landslide struck Sundernagar’s Jangambagh area in Mandi district on Tuesday evening, leaving three people dead and two others trapped under debris. The incident triggered panic and chaos among local residents.

According to officials, the landslide damaged two residential houses. While some residents narrowly escaped, others were buried beneath the rubble. Rescue operations are underway to trace and save the missing individuals.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud rumbling sounds just before the hillside collapsed, sending massive debris crashing onto homes below. Many people rushed out of their houses to safety as the ground gave way.

Additional District Magistrate Madan Kumar confirmed that a coordinated search and rescue effort is in progress to locate those still trapped. Teams from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and local police have been deployed to the site.

Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, who is present at the spot, is personally supervising rescue efforts. “The safety of those trapped remains our top priority. All necessary resources have been mobilized to ensure an effective operation,” Devgan said.

Rescue teams continued operations late into the night, and further details are awaited.
