Travel Advisory for Tourists in Himachal Pradesh: Avoid These Hill Destinations
Heavy rains disrupt access to major tourist spots
Incessant rainfall and landslides have rendered several popular tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh—including Manali, Kullu, Dalhousie, and Lahaul-Spiti—largely inaccessible at present.
The Chandigarh–Manali highway is open only up to Mandi, with a major blockage near Pandoh cutting off access to upper regions. Travel from Dharamshala to Chamba is not possible, while the Chandigarh–Dharamshala road remains open but with disruptions on the route to McLeodganj. The Pathankot–Dharamshala road also continues to remain closed.
However, routes from Chandigarh to Shimla and Kasauli are functioning normally. At Chakki Mor, traffic is being regulated one-way due to the persistent risk of landslides.
Tourists are advised to check the latest road conditions before planning their trips.
Current Road and Destination Status:
- Dalhousie, Manali, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti – Inaccessible due to heavy rains.
- Chandigarh–Manali Highway – Open till Mandi; blocked near Pandoh.
