Shimla, August 22:
A devastating fire broke out early Friday morning in the Tara Devi area of Shimla, reportedly caused by a short circuit. Around 4:30 a.m., flames suddenly erupted in a shop following a loud blast. Eyewitnesses said smoke and fire spread rapidly, engulfing the shop within minutes and creating panic in the locality as people rushed to help.

Local residents immediately informed the fire department, which reached the spot promptly. After nearly two hours of continuous efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by around 5:30 a.m. However, by then the shop and its contents had been completely destroyed.

The shop owner, Vishal, has suffered an estimated loss of ₹30–32 lakh, as all his stock and goods were reduced to ashes. The incident has left the area in shock and concern.

On learning about the fire, officials from the Kacchi Ghati Ghoda Chowki Vyapar Mandal also rushed to the site. Its president, Malkit Singh, met the affected family and assured them of full support. He also urged the administration to immediately provide adequate relief and financial assistance so that the business can be restarted.

Local residents noted that had the fire brigade not arrived on time, the flames could easily have spread to adjacent shops. While the situation is now under control, the incident has left traders in the area deeply worried.
