Solan, August 15 – On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, a district-level celebration was held at Thodo Ground in Solan, where Health & Family Welfare, Social Justice & Empowerment, and Sainik Welfare Minister Colonel Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil honoured distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
Dr. Shandil felicitated Narendra Singh, President of Chhote Sahibzade Welfare Society, Redoo (Nalagarh), for organising blood donation camps, extending financial assistance to underprivileged girls, and providing community meals (langar). Harleen Kaur, President of Act Humane Foundation, was recognised for her efforts towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities, children’s education, and public safety awareness.
Anganwadi worker Asha Kumari received an award for her initiatives to improve nutrition and eliminate malnutrition in her area. Ramneek Atal from Solan was honoured for securing first position in the state in the B.A. examination. Village Revenue Officer Prateek Sharma was commended for his exemplary service in revenue, relief, and rehabilitation work. Kabaddi coach Sanjeev Kumar was recognised for training athletes who have excelled at national and international levels. BDC member Devender Sharma was awarded for his special contribution to the cleanliness drive.
From the Police Department, Women Police Station In-charge Kavita, Kunihar Police Station In-charge Moti Singh, Arki Police Station In-charge Rajinder Singh, Dharampur Police Station In-charge Dalip Singh, ASI Vinod Kumar, Head Constable Amit Katoch, Head Constable Vikas Sharma, ASI Gopal Sharma, Head Constable Amar Singh, along with several other officers and personnel, were honoured for their outstanding service in maintaining law and order, preventing crime, tracing missing children, combating drug trafficking, and efficiently carrying out VIP duties.
The event was attended by MLAs Sanjay Awasthi and Vinod Sultanpuri, Solan Mayor Usha Sharma, chairpersons of various banks and boards, Congress Party leaders, Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, and many other dignitaries. Patriotic songs and cultural performances added vibrancy and joy to the celebrations.
