Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur Celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Sisters; Expresses Concern Over Rain-Hit Situation

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with great joy at his official residence in Shimla on Saturday. Sisters visiting his home tied rakhi to him in the traditional manner and wished him a happy, prosperous, and successful life.
After the ceremony, Thakur prayed for the well-being, prosperity, and happiness of all his sisters. Extending greetings to the people of the state on the occasion, he conveyed his best wishes for a festival that symbolizes the love and devotion between brothers and sisters.
On this occasion, he expressed deep concern over the heavy rainfall in the past 48 hours, which has severely disrupted life in several parts of the state. He noted that the Chandigarh–Manali highway is closed at multiple points, conditions are critical across Kullu district, and Bilaspur has also suffered extensive damage. Earlier rainfall had already caused significant losses in Una and other regions, and the latest downpour has worsened the situation.
Thakur added that the situation is particularly troubling in areas dependent on tourism. He urged the government to ensure that disaster-affected residents and tourists do not face any inconvenience. He also appealed to both residents and visitors to follow administrative advisories in view of the rainfall and to take special care of their own and their families’ safety.
