Solan, August 3:
In a deeply tragic incident in Chambaghat, a Junior Engineer (JE) working with the Him Urja Department died by suicide. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Arun Kumar, son of Bhagwan Singh, a native of Kuthar (Nerwa) in Shimla district. He had been serving in the department for the past one and a half years.

The Solan Sadar police station received a call via emergency helpline 112 on August 3, reporting a suspected suicide. On reaching the location—a rented two-room flat in Chambaghat—the police found Arun hanging from a ceiling fan. Eyewitness accounts were recorded, and the body was carefully brought down for further examination. No external injuries or marks were found on the body, and no suicide note was recovered from the scene.

Arun Kumar had been residing with his family in a rented house in Ber village, near Chambaghat. At the time of the incident, he was alone, as his wife had gone to their native village. Concern arose when she was unable to reach him by phone, prompting a fellow tenant to check on him. Upon entering the room, they discovered him hanging.

The body was transported to the Regional Hospital in Solan for a post-mortem. After the autopsy, the remains were handed over to the family for final rites. Viscera samples have been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Junga for chemical analysis.

As of now, no clear motive behind the suicide has emerged, and no foul play has been suspected by the family or those close to the deceased. However, police have initiated a thorough investigation and are examining all possible angles. The case is currently being handled under Section 194 of the BNSS, 2023.
