Directorate of Education Issues Instructions to Update Head of Accounts Codes

Shimla, August 2:
The Directorate of Education, Himachal Pradesh, has issued a directive to the principals and headmasters of all government senior secondary and high schools to update the Head of Accounts code from 207-Education to 220-School Education for the financial year 2025–26.

Referring to a communication from the Secretary (Education), the Directorate stated that all future budget allocations will now be made under the new code (220-School Education).

According to the official order, the change will affect expenditures under the following heads:

• Secondary Schools (Demand No. 08)

• High Schools (excluding MNP) – Demand No. 31

• Secondary Schools – Demand No. 32

All Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) have been directed to return budget allocations made under code 207-Education starting August 1, 2025. No fresh allocations will be processed under the old code until the transition is complete. Further allocations under the new head will be issued by the Director of School Education.

The Directorate has also instructed all DDOs to immediately withdraw any bills prepared under the earlier code to ensure a smooth and timely transition to the new accounting structure.
