Shimla, July 27: In the ongoing investigation into the Vimal Negi death case, two officials under scrutiny have recently been reappointed by the government after being suspended—sparking sharp criticism from the BJP, which has questioned the government’s intent. Responding to these allegations, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that while the BJP had strongly pushed for a CBI probe, the agency has made no substantial progress even after all this time.
Negi stated, “The state government did not promote Deshraj, but demoted him while posting him as Chief Engineer. Similarly, IAS officer Harikesh Meena has also been demoted. The CBI must now explain why it has failed to present any concrete findings so far.”
He further accused the BJP of politicizing the case to gain mileage and said that despite taking the matter to court and demanding a CBI investigation, the mystery surrounding Vimal Negi’s death remains unresolved. In contrast, he asserted, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the state government was making more credible progress than the CBI.
Negi’s remarks reflect growing frustration over the prolonged and inconclusive nature of the central agency’s probe, which has yet to reveal the truth behind a case that continues to raise serious questions.
