Shimla, July 27:
A series of vibrant and engaging activities were held on Saturday at the Government Senior Secondary School, Dublu, located on the far end of the Balog Panchayat in Mashobra Block, to mark the observance of Bag-Free Day. Students enthusiastically showcased their talent and creativity through various competitions and cultural performances.

The event was presided over by Acting Principal Reshma Sen, who said that, as per the Himachal Pradesh government’s initiative, the last Saturday of every month is observed as ‘Bag-Free Day’ in schools. The aim is to provide students a break from academic pressure and give them a platform to explore and express their multifaceted abilities.

Spokesperson Virender Chauhan shared that several competitions were organized for both junior and senior categories. These included drawing, folk dance, solo singing, summer camp activities focusing on Indian languages, and rangoli-making.

In the drawing competition, Rohit secured the first position, followed by Saksham Rana in second place and Sneha in third. In folk dance, Dipanshu took the top spot, while Avni and Muskan came in second and third respectively. The best performers were selected to represent the school in the upcoming district-level Bal Mela, reflecting the event’s role in boosting students’ enthusiasm and confidence.

A team from Shimla DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) also visited the school for an inspection. The visiting members—Nirmala Chauhan, Nirupama, and Dr. Mamaraj Pundeer—expressed satisfaction with the school’s functioning and lauded the efforts of the teachers.

The entire school staff was present and actively encouraged the students. The Principal extended best wishes to all participants and emphasized the importance of continuing such events regularly to foster holistic development.
