Shimla-Bilaspur highway: In accordance with waste management, Chamakri Pul remains unregulated
Diary Times
Shimla,
The state of the well-known location, Chamakri Pul, on the Shimla-Bilaspur highway, has been appalling for a long time. Angry with the situation, some residents attempt to dispose of the rubbish on their own and wind up tossing it into a nullah beneath the Chamakri Bridge.
Both visitors and residents are negatively impacted by the site’s abundance of plastic bags and unsorted green trash, which poses a risk of contracting diseases including dengue and cholera.
The locals aren’t able to manage the collected waste, either in the direction of Shimla, towars the ACC Bermana, or in the direction of Bilaspur waste management plant. The residents are caught in the middle of two vessels that are not going to shore because solid waste management plants have left them in middle of nowhere. A local, Madan lal said that they are stranded in the between of two boats that aren’t reaching any shores because solid waste management plants have left them with no other choice.
The adjacent Sulabh Shauchalaya, which has been blocked for years, also contributes to the anxious scene. The restroom adds dirty water to the surrounding nullah, which has an impact on the river projects because it serves a river that serves numerous Panchayats upstream.
Tossing loads of trash beneath this damaged toilet is another way that the villagers have helped.
OP Sharma, a local, accuses the administration of being ignorant, he also said that he has frequently complained to DC Solan and posted on the CM Portal, regarding the same issue.
Many shopkeepers in the place are observed sorting or segregating their rubbish, outside their shops, giving green waste to the strays, but, the struggle seems never ending as the outlet of the waste, is still a question of worry.
