Shimla, July 26: A tragic accident occurred late Friday night in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district, where an Ignis car (HP 52E 4006) lost control near Badhiyara bridge and plunged into the Pabbar River. Two young men were in the vehicle at the time—one has sustained serious injuries, while the other is still missing.
According to preliminary reports, the occupants of the car have been identified as Hitender, son of Michar Sain, a resident of Diswani village, Kaloti Post Office, Chopal Tehsil, and Sanjeev Kumar, from Gharshal village, Devidar Post Office, Chopal Tehsil.
Local residents and police teams launched an immediate rescue operation following the accident. Hitender, who was found injured, was first taken to Rohru Hospital and later referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, due to the severity of his condition.
Efforts are currently underway to locate Sanjeev Kumar, who remains missing. His family has been informed, and search operations involving local divers and police teams are ongoing in the Pabbar River.
While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, initial findings suggest the car suddenly lost control and veered into the river. Police officials from Rohru, along with emergency teams, are present at the site, and a case has been registered.
The administration has issued an alert for nearby riverbank areas, urging local residents to immediately report any signs of natural calamity or accident to authorities to ensure swift response and assistance.
It’s worth noting that monsoon-related accidents have seen a rise in Himachal Pradesh. Since June 20, 71 people have died in various road mishaps across the state. Mandi district has reported the highest toll with 14 fatalities, followed by 7 in Shimla district.
