Shimla, July 26:
The Himachal Pradesh State CID, in collaboration with the Cyber Crime Unit and Cyber Training & Research Centre, organized a special workshop on “Cyber Forensic Tools and Smart Policing Solutions” in Shimla on Saturday. Tech Police and Palladiumi also partnered in hosting the event.

The workshop was inaugurated by Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, IPS, who highlighted the alarming rise in cybercrime and stressed the need for police personnel to be technically equipped to tackle digital offenses effectively. He noted that modern policing demands strong digital capabilities to keep pace with evolving cyber threats.

DIG Cyber Crime, Mohit Chawla, IPS, led the session and emphasized the ongoing efforts to strengthen cyber hygiene across the state. He pointed out that through awareness campaigns, improved access to digital infrastructure, and institutional collaboration, Himachal Pradesh can build a more resilient cybersecurity framework.

The event saw participation from several senior officers and subject experts, including ADGP CID Gyaneshwar Singh, DIG Law and Order Rachna Gupta, SP Cyber Crime Dinesh Kumar, DSP Cyber Crime Vipin Kumar, SeMT Head Alok Tomar, and forensic scientists Ashish and Sumesh Rana from the Junga Forensic Lab.

The workshop covered a range of critical topics such as:

  • Use of modern technologies and tools in policing

  • In-depth investigation of cybercrimes

  • Effective application of forensic tools

  • Preservation and presentation of digital evidence

  • Monitoring of social media activity

  • State cybersecurity strategy

  • Promoting cyber awareness among stakeholders

The initiative aims to equip law enforcement officers with advanced skills to better handle the growing challenges of cybercrime and contribute to a safer digital environment in Himachal Pradesh.
