Shimla, July 26: The Himachal Pradesh Government has appointed Dr. Pavnesh Kumar, a retired senior officer of the Indian Forest Service, as a new member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). A formal notification to this effect was issued by the Department of Personnel.
The appointment has been made by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh under the powers vested in him by Article 316 of the Constitution of India.
According to the notification, Dr. Kumar, who previously served as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests-cum-HoFF (retired), will serve as a member of the Commission for a term of six years from the date he assumes office, or until he attains the age of 62, whichever comes earlier. Dr. Pavnesh Kumar hails from Basal village in Baroh Tehsil, District Kangra.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission plays a crucial role in the state’s administrative framework. It is responsible for conducting examinations and overseeing recruitment to various state government services. With Dr. Kumar’s extensive experience in forest and administrative services, his induction is expected to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the Commission’s functioning.
At present, the HPPSC is chaired by Captain Rameshwar Singh Thakur (Retired IPS) and comprises five members, including the newly appointed Dr. Pavnesh Kumar.
