Mandi, July 25:
Revenue, Horticulture, and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi was met with black flag protests and “Go Back” slogans by BJP workers during his visit to disaster-affected areas in the Seraj Valley. As the minister arrived in Janjehli, a large group of BJP workers, led by Janjehli BJP Mandal President Bhisham Thakur, waved black flags and demanded that he leave the area.
Negi was in Seraj to assess the damage caused by the recent natural calamity. However, local BJP leaders objected to his visit, accusing him of making insensitive remarks during a time when the region was seeking sympathy and support.
Bhisham Thakur stated that while the people of Seraj are known for their compassion and readiness to help others, the minister had instead rubbed salt into their wounds with his statements. “Negis are known for their gentle nature and helpfulness, but this particular Negi seems intent on hurting sentiments rather than offering support,” Thakur said.
He further added that Seraj has no need for such a minister, and the black flag protest was a reflection of the community’s resentment. The BJP workers’ demonstration was aimed at sending a clear message to the minister that his presence was unwelcome.
