Shimla, July 23:
A wave of panic swept through the capital city this morning after several reputed schools in Shimla received bomb threats via email. The alarming messages caused concern among students, parents, and school staff, prompting an immediate response from police, state CID, and the bomb disposal squad, who launched extensive search operations across the affected institutions.

Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tiwari confirmed that thorough inspections revealed the threats to be baseless. “After a detailed investigation, we can confirm that the emails were fake. We urge the public to remain calm and not fall prey to rumors,” he stated, adding that the police are fully prepared to handle such threats and are actively working to identify those responsible. Legal proceedings have already been initiated.

Security was significantly heightened at the schools in question, with mock drills conducted and every part of the campuses carefully searched. Bomb squads combed through the premises but found no trace of explosives or any suspicious objects.

Police reported that the threatening emails were sent late at night. The targeted schools include some of the city’s most prominent private and convent institutions. While the incident naturally caused anxiety among parents, the swift and professional police response helped alleviate fears.

DGP Tiwari stressed that the state police are taking the matter very seriously. He also mentioned coordination with police forces in other states that have received similar threats recently. Cyber teams are actively pursuing leads to track down the source of the emails.

“The Himachal Pradesh Police is fully committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” Tiwari said. He urged the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

This isn’t the first instance of such threats in the state. Previously, similar hoax emails were sent to the Himachal High Court, district courts, and deputy commissioner offices. In all cases, police responded promptly with necessary precautions. Recently, one suspect connected to earlier threats was arrested in Kerala, and efforts are underway to bring him to Himachal for further investigation.
