Father and Daughter Among Three Died as Car Plunges Into Gorge in Kotkhai

Shimla, July 19:
A tragic road accident in the Kotkhai area of Shimla district on Saturday claimed the lives of three people, including a father and his daughter. The incident occurred near Baghedi on the Rawla Kyar link road, when a car (registration number HP99-0390) lost control and veered off the road, falling into a deep gorge.

According to police sources, all three occupants of the vehicle died in the accident. Pramod, son of Heeru Ram, a resident of Badon village, and Krishan, son of Balku from Kotla village, post office Himri, Tehsil Kotkhai, died on the spot. Pramod’s daughter, Shalu, was critically injured and was being rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kotkhai, but succumbed to her injuries on the way.

The accident has sent a wave of grief through the village, especially as it involved a father and daughter. Shalu was reportedly employed at a local institution.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Kotkhai police reached the scene and initiated rescue and relief operations. The bodies have been recovered and sent for post-mortem, and the families of the deceased have been informed.

While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle.
