Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani Visits Tunnel-Affected Area in Naug, Expresses Concern Over Structural Damage
Bilaspur, July 8:
After chairing a district-level review meeting at Bachat Bhawan in Bilaspur, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani visited the Naug area to assess the situation of residents affected by the ongoing railway tunnel construction. During his visit, he inspected homes showing signs of damage and interacted with the affected families.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal, and Zila Parishad member Gaurav Sharma also accompanied the minister.
Minister Dharmani stated that during Chief Minister’s recent tour to Kangra, residents near Nauni had submitted a memorandum highlighting the issue. Following this, the Chief Minister directed Dharmani to personally visit the site and assess the ground situation.
After the inspection, Dharmani described the situation as serious, noting that several houses had developed wide cracks. He warned that heavy rainfall could potentially cause further damage and loss. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to provide financial assistance for reconstruction at market rates, depending on site availability.
He further noted that the construction company involved in the tunnel project had carried out unauthorized dumping of debris. The Forest Department, he said, had already issued a notice in this regard. Dharmani made it clear that no entity would be allowed to misuse Himachal’s natural resources or cause distress to its people, stressing that strict action would be taken if such activities continued.
