Shimla, June 27:
In a swift and focused crackdown on drug trafficking, Shimla Police have arrested seven individuals within a span of 24 hours. The arrests, made between June 25 and 26, 2025, were part of a district-level operation under the NDPS Act aimed at curbing the spread of narcotics in the region.

According to police officials, the arrests were carried out in a series of coordinated raids across various police stations. In Rampur, Mansa Ram alias Manish (29), a resident of Baga Sarahan in Kullu district, was taken into custody under the NDPS Act. In another operation under Theog Police Station, Anil Kumar (34) and Virender Singh (37), both residents of Nerwa, were apprehended.

During the investigation, the cases were found to be interlinked. Based on this, further leads were developed, and two more individuals—Abhishek Chauhan and Pomesh Verma (both 29)—were arrested from Theog. Additionally, two others, Ankit and Gaurav, were also nabbed in Rampur on charges related to drug trafficking.

Police are currently interrogating all suspects and working to uncover the broader network behind their operations. Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of an organized group attempting to expand its narcotics trade within Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla Superintendent of Police, Sanjeev Gandhi, praised the police teams for their swift action and dedication. He reiterated the department’s commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy against drug-related crimes and confirmed that similar intensified operations will continue across the district.
