Shimla, June 27:
Himachal Pradesh has made a significant leap in the field of education, earning national recognition with a 5th-place ranking in the latest Parakh survey (National Achievement Survey 2025). The state, which was ranked 21st in 2021, has surged ahead of 16 other states to secure a top-five position this year.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur attributed this achievement to the progressive policies of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He said the government conducted three mock tests in the run-up to the national survey, which helped prepare the education system for this national evaluation. The improved ranking, he added, is a validation of the decisive reforms undertaken by the government to enhance educational quality.

Thakur highlighted that the current administration has made around 7,000 new appointments in the education department. These include 700 new teachers, nearly 4,000 batch-wise recruitments, and 900 positions under Samagra Shiksha, for which the hiring process is underway.

“This ranking is more than just a number—it reflects the progress in educational quality, the learning environment, and the effectiveness of policymaking in the state,” Thakur said. Looking ahead, the government aims to further strengthen school infrastructure, enhance teacher training, and expand digital resources across educational institutions.

He emphasized that this achievement is not just a matter of pride for the education department, but a collective triumph for students, parents, and teachers across the state.
