Bilaspur, 19 June – Anxiety runs high in Ghumarwin’s Kandrour township after news that 23‑year‑old Aryan Chandel—the only son of Vichitra Singh Chandel—has vanished under mysterious circumstances in Germany. Aryan arrived in Munich earlier this year to pursue an MBA.
The Disappearance
On Sunday, 15 June, Aryan went swimming with friends in a lake near Munich. He reportedly entered the water around 1:30 p.m. and was not seen again. Despite being regarded as a competent swimmer, he is feared drowned; yet, four days of search operations have yielded no sign of him—alive or deceased.
Family in Distress
Earlier that day, Aryan had telephoned his uncle to extend Father’s Day greetings. Late that night, the family received a call informing them he had gone missing in the lake. Since then, his parents have been in deep shock, fasting and praying for their son’s safe return.
Appeals for Help
Relatives have urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, and district authorities to intervene. They have requested the Ministry of External Affairs to press German officials for an intensified search.
