Mandi, June 16 – Vaibhav Thakur, a resident of Bhuli in Mandi district, has brought pride to Himachal Pradesh by securing the 21st rank across India in the UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Examination 2024. With this remarkable achievement, he is set to join the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as an Assistant Commandant.

Vaibhav’s success is the result of three years of focused preparation, marked by hard work, discipline, and consistent support from his family. He has also cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination this year and is currently preparing for the Mains.

He began his education at DAV School, Mandi, and later pursued a B.Sc. from SD College, Chandigarh. Vaibhav is not only academically gifted but also a talented sportsperson, having represented Mandi district in Under-14, Under-16, and Under-19 cricket teams.

His father, Surendra Thakur, is a senior medical representative with an international pharmaceutical company, while his mother, Bharti, is a dedicated homemaker. His grandfather, Dinga Singh, retired as an inspector from the Himachal Pradesh Police and has been a guiding force in Vaibhav’s life.

Originally from Sanour village in Sari Panchayat of Dharampur constituency, the family now resides in Bhuli, Mandi. Vaibhav attributes his success to his parents and grandfather, saying, “No goal is out of reach if pursued with sincerity and integrity. The key to success lies in holding onto self-belief during tough times.”

His achievement has sparked a wave of joy in Mandi, with congratulations pouring in from educators, sports circles, and the wider community.
