After Sister, Now Brother to Become a Doctor: Aarav Thakur Tops NEET 2025 in Himachal

Aarav Thakur, a bright student from Ghumarwin subdivision in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district, has made history by securing the top rank in the state in NEET 2025. Scoring an impressive 619 out of 720, Aarav not only emerged as Himachal Pradesh’s NEET topper but also secured an All India Rank of 500, bringing pride to his family and region. He hails from Dehra village in the Hatwar Panchayat of Ghumarwin tehsil.
The news of his achievement has sparked joy and pride across the district. What makes the accomplishment even more special is that Aarav’s elder sister, Amrita Thakur, is currently pursuing her MBBS at Tanda Medical College. For their parents, this marks a moment of immense pride, as both their children are now on the path to becoming doctors. Aarav’s father, Jagdeep Thakur, is a Physics lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Kutheda, while his mother, Sapna Thakur, is a TGT teacher at Government High School, Chandoh.
Speaking about his journey, Aarav credited his success to hard work and discipline. “I would often study until 3 a.m., even in the coldest winters, waking up early to follow a strict study schedule. Success isn’t a miracle—it’s the result of consistent effort, discipline, and self-belief,” he said.
In recognition of his achievement, Minerva Study Circle, Ghumarwin—where Aarav has been a student since Class 9—announced a cash award of ₹1 lakh. His sister Amrita also received her coaching from the same institute. The directors and faculty of Minerva described this as a moment of great pride for the institution.
Adding to his impressive academic record, Aarav had earlier scored 99.29 percentile in the JEE Mains this year, showcasing his versatility and dedication. His dream is to pursue MBBS from a premier institution like AIIMS and contribute to society through a career in medicine.
