Shimla, June 14: After a 15-day suspension, train service to Shimla Railway Station was finally restored on Saturday, bringing much relief to both tourists and locals. Service had been halted due to the reconstruction of a railway bridge near Summerhill, limiting train operations to Tara Devi station in the interim.

With the resumption of full rail service, the arrival of a tourist-packed train at Shimla station brought life back to the platform. Smiles returned to the faces of travelers, and local vendors expressed visible relief. During the disruption, tourists were forced to rely on taxis or walk long distances, causing significant inconvenience. Local shopkeepers and laborers also felt the impact, with many reporting a sharp decline in business.

“Customer footfall had dropped drastically,” said one shop owner. “Now that the trains are running again, we hope things will return to normal.”

The Shimla-Kalka railway line is world-renowned for its scenic beauty and unique travel experience. It is also a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major draw for visitors from across the globe. With service now fully operational, tourists can once again enjoy this historic and picturesque journey.
