Shimla, June 13:
In a major relief for aspiring teachers in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has announced a two-year relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment to the posts of TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) and JBT (Junior Basic Teacher). This decision will be applicable to recruitment processes taking place in the year 2025.

According to an official notification issued by the Education Department, the relaxation will apply to the ongoing recruitment for 937 posts being conducted by the Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission (HPSSC), Hamirpur. A similar relaxation is also expected to be extended to upcoming recruitments for JBT posts.

The directive clearly states that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the interests of candidates who may have otherwise been rendered ineligible due to having crossed the age limit. The Education Secretariat has instructed relevant authorities to amend Advertisement No. 01/2025 accordingly and issue the revised notification at the earliest.

With this move, candidates who were previously unable to apply due to age restrictions will now get a chance to compete. Thousands of youth are expected to benefit from this important policy decision.
