Dharamshala, June 10:
Head Constable Dinesh Kumar, posted at Rehan Police Station in Kangra district, has been suspended after being caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹2,000. The Vigilance Department produced him in court on Monday evening, where he was remanded to police custody for three days. Vigilance officials will now investigate his movable and immovable assets and probe whether he was involved in similar misconduct in the past.

The action followed a complaint by a man named Suraj, who approached the Vigilance Office in Dharamshala alleging that Head Constable Dinesh Kumar had named him and his brother in a case registered at Rehan Police Station. Later, Dinesh Kumar was also assigned the investigation of the same case.

According to the complaint, the head constable misused his position and demanded ₹10,000 from Suraj in exchange for removing their names from the FIR. Acting on this complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the accused accepting the first installment of ₹2,000 on Monday.

SP Nurpur, Ashok Ratan, confirmed the incident and said that the head constable has been suspended pending further investigation.
